Belbin Overview:

Dr. Meredith Belbin's work at Henley Management College identified nine clusters of behaviour, which he termed Team Roles. Each Team Role has its particular strengths and allowable weaknesses, and each has an important contribution to make to a team.  He discovered that under business simulation conditions using his EME and Teamopoly activities that teams with this balance of individuals and behavioral patterns out-performed other teams.

Very few people display characteristics of just one Team Role. Most people have 3 or 4 preferred roles, which can be adopted or eschewed as the situation requires.

In this introductory workshop the primary objective is to introduce the participants to Belbin® Team Role Theory and then apply it to their team. The participants will be required to complete The Belbin® Self-Perception Inventory prior to commencement of the workshop.

What is the tool suitable for?

The Belbin team roles instrument is a self-awareness and development tool. It is suitable for employees at all levels, including board level.  Workshop 1 is designed to give people a solid grounding in the dynamics of Belbin team role theory and to give them the tools for further individual and team development using team roles as a framework.  It is suitable to run in conjunction with many of our team formats.
